Well hello my readers,I had received a lot of questions about a proper warming up for your ballet class, but since there are many questions about the same topic I decided to make this post instead.
There is no such thing as proper warm up routine for your ballet class!
Warming up for your ballet class is as personal as your iris, everyone is different therefore not everybody needs the same. I mean there are tons of warming up routines on Youtube but let’s say that are generic like just picking a pair of ballet slippers when what you need is a custom made shoe.
Important tips
Be aware of your body-Be as cold an objective as a scientific, analice every body part, get aware of your proportions (Are you flexible with you legs but Do you have a stiff lower back? then you work on your back more so you don’t hurt yourself while doing cambré)
Be an early bird- Even that majority of classes give a free period of time for warming up,I recommend to you to arrive earlier and do your very individual warm up to stretch the parts of your body that need more attention.
Stay warm- Specially in cold weather or winter even if you already did your warm up while you wait you can get cold and injure so try to be covered and while you are not doing nothing or waiting for your turn try to move and stretch to keep your body warm and flexible.
Cool down- When you finish your class don’t just dress and to go to the street took some minutes in cool down your body and relax your muscles and articulations (remember that just minutes before were warm and stretched) So you want to return to a neutral state.
Whether you’re buying your first pair, or buying a replacement pair, it goes without saying that it’s an absolute necessity to have proper fitting ballet shoes. The following are tips you may find helpful when trying on ballet shoes:
There is a misconception that if you don’t begin ballet at an early age, there’s no point in beginning at all. True, a late starter may not reach the top of the profession, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get immense enjoyment, great physical exercise and mental stimulation from ballet.
How about 55 year old surgeon Peter Chau from Melbourne: “I realise there is something a little bit crazy about taking on ballet in your 50s, but I have finally found something I really love doing”.
“People want something that fits into their lifestyle and allows them to express themselves,” says dance teacher Anna Achia from St. Kilda’s Glamour Puss Studios. “I love the fact that people come along to class and sort of evolve into a different person for an hour and half. Doing something purely for fun is immensely therapeutic and it’s something we don’t do enough of as adults.”
